Tell stories that are as personal as they are universal

Fieldnotes from a Watcher is a storytelling journal that publishes creative nonfiction work on a monthly basis. We focus on themes that are as personal as they are universal, often shared by many but voiced by few.

We welcome guest writers to submit their work for editorial consideration, as we believe in the communal nature of writing as an open ground for connection. Each guest piece typically ranges from 1,000 to 1,500 words, is rooted in lived experience, and is created in an authentic and nuanced voice. The best way to assess whether your work is a fit for the journal is to read the published essays. But you're always welcome to reach out to me for questions or ideas.

If you're a fellow watcher with a story you're eager to tell, reach out. We'll have a conversation about your work and discuss compensation for the creativity, time, and heart you pour into it.
