Tell your stories that are as personal as they are universal

Fieldnotes from a Watcher is an independent literary journal that delves into many timeless human experiences that are as personal as they are universal. These stories, often shared by many but voiced by few, examines families (of origin and of choice), parenthood, grief and loss, and cross-cultural journey in an authentic and honest manner. As a literary journal, we also explore the creative process and artistic mediums such as films, music, and literature.

In its nascent stage, the journal primarily publishes long-form, creative nonfiction essays by writer Ruika Lin. But we firmly believe in the communal nature of writing as an open and sacred ground for connection. We not only invite readers to share feedback and comments on these stories, but also welcome guest writers to submit their work for editorial consideration as the journal grows.

If you're a fellow watcher with a story you're eager to tell via long-form, nonfiction writing, or have any questions about the submission process, get in touch and we will have a face-to-face chat to discuss more. The journal also firmly believes in compensating guest writers for the creativity, time, and heart poured into your work. We will also discuss compensation during our real-time chat as well.
